  “Then that’s what we will do and soon.” The rest of the time was spent packing up, taking the luggage to the lobby where someone loaded it, and then eating breakfast down stairs before meeting the rest of the people in the lobby. Nancy and Risa were a little warmer to each other, but still not where he hoped to see them eventually get to be.

  Everyone loaded into the SUVs and were driven to the plane. Win thought Nancy resented being kept from Louis and didn’t realize that wasn’t Risa’s decision. He planned to let her know when he had a chance to talk to her alone.

  San Francisco loomed in front of them in no time and Risa still didn’t enjoy flying. She was a little less agitated and Nancy was warmer since he’d spoken to her briefly. Leann and Marie were both sweet girls who he thought would adjust to the island well.

  Lunch was an informal affair and nothing special in his opinion. He’d expected something better than a sandwich or salad style plate. Perhaps they were spoiled. It turned out to be a business discussion that Lu could have handled on the phone. When it was done, they went to a hotel and checked in. Lu sprung for a supper at a restaurant that had an exotic fish tank. It was fun to watch the colorful fish swim about as they ate the delicious meals prepared by a world class chef. The girls were particularly excited. This experience made up for the boring lunch.

  The next day they slept in late and ate brunch together as a group at the hotel restaurant. The concert was earlier than usual which worked out well. It was becoming a daily grind but everything went smoothly. The event at Beverly Hills turned out to be a birthday party for a six year old. It was over by five and they were on their way home. Win had never been so happy to have a trip over and be on the plane again.

  When the island was in sight, he felt like kissing the ground even though he had never minded flying. He could just imagine how Risa felt.

  Lu had assured them all that trips like this would be at a minimum. Everyone had agreed it was for the best. It was time now to deal with the fallout from the raid and set up their life together. He couldn’t wait to start.

  Epilogue

  Win and Risa settled into family life. Nancy and Louis settled into the suite next to them and Leann and the baby shared a room next to their mothers. Nancy was a nurse so she started working in medical with Louis and Risa. They began to work on their relationship, both at work and at home. It was coming along, but not as quickly as Risa and Leann’s relationship. They had become close quickly. Little Marie also had her big sister wrapped around her little finger.

  Nancy turned out to be likable once she settled in as far as the demons were concerned and Louis was vetted by Lu and had free run of the facility. Other issues had come up with some of the people removed from the Yukon facility and everything was hush hush for now. Lu was investigating and deciding how to deal with things before he shared them. It was typical Lu, leaving them all on the edge of their seats wondering what was going on.

  Zepar was handling the construction and he was working with the crew chief daily. He hinted that big things were coming soon. Abe was seeing Gloria and he thought he was sneaky, but everyone knew.

  Risa cyborg project was going well. The robotics worked seamlessly on her three patients and other injured demons were signing up for parts. It kept her busy and she didn’t have much free time and Win got the lion’s share of it. Cirrus still lurked in the shadows making everyone nervous although no one knew exactly what danger he represented.

  Lu was making plans for more concerts for the band. He was also making plans to bring the fans to them once the resort was complete. It would be the best way to ensure their income without traveling too much.

  The band sat around with the meeting in progress. Zeus was on the screen bringing them up to date on the newest threats. “Origin supposedly has a plan to strike straight at you for the raid on Yukon. I’ve only gotten threats of the general kind, nothing specific.”

  “We expected them to be pissed. Origin has always been a damned bully. They push everyone around, but if someone dares to push back they are upset.” Win declared.

  “Nothing’s changed there. It’s the way they always operate.” Lu agreed.

  “The plans are being worked on for six more possible facilities and we need to move fast. The first raid will be in Alaska. Cherish says she can set up a concert in a week if you give her the go.” Hermes added.

  “That girl is amazing. Tell her yes. It’s soon, but we can handle it.” Lu conceded. They’d only been back a week now and they would already be leaving again. The money was damn good, but there was more to life than money. Recovering gods was one of those things so away they would go.

  “If that’s all?” Zeus asked. When everyone nodded, the feed cut out.

  “There you have it, everyone. A week and the bands back on the road. Good night and enjoy yourselves!” Lu said. “Life is about to get even more exciting.” He added in a whisper.
