“Like it when I massage your ass, Baby?” I whispered and her body reacted. She liked dirty talk too. “You’re so hot and tight I just want to shoot my cum deep inside your thirsty little pussy.” I added. Her speed increased and she moaned more.

“Oh goddess, Reese! I’m so fucking close.” She groaned and I could tell that she was. Her pussy was squeezing the hell out of my cock and I loved every second of it. I arched against her and could feel her clutch my hard length. The goddess only knew how much I wanted this female.

“Cum Megan, cum all over me. I want to feel your love juice flowing all over me. Once you do, I have a load of hot cum just for you.” I murmured and I wasn’t surprised when she exploded all around me and she slid down as hard as she could.

I tried to hold back and enjoy her orgasm before having my own but there was just no way to stop the sexual need and the energy flowing through me. I threw back my head and howled to the moon. I jerked and bucked, groaning and growling like the wolf I was inside. My breathing was harsh and my heart tried to pound out of my chest, but it was even more pleasurable than the first time and my body, while stronger and growing stronger still, endured more pleasure than some could survive. I heard her struggling as well to calm her breathing and slow her heart but it would calm at its own rate.

  “Dear goddess that was even…”

  “Mm.” I agreed.

She had just collapsed on my chest and I pulled her into my firm embrace. Who would have ever believed that I, The Overseer, would be mated and fallen in love with her? I had never met a female like her and she was human. It was mind boggling. Of course she wouldn’t be human long. I could already smell the change that was taking place. It was magical and mysterious how this human who happened to have powerful wolf blood, could change and be a stronger wolf, once it was done, than most that had been born that way.

I wouldn’t pretend to understand it and I wasn’t sure anyone did. I knew little about it since I had avoided mixed couples and stayed away from those during their changes, a rare event anyway. Had I believed in advance that she might change, I might have left her and never looked back. The odds weren’t good of surviving a change unless you were a white wolf and now perhaps a red one. She was strong and I knew she would make it through and become a powerhouse of wolfish strength.

I suspected once Megan came to her own, all the pack females would be given fair warning to keep away from what was hers and that suited me just fine. Gayla would be the one to test Megan’s strength and I wondered if she would survive it. She had been a pain in my ass and I would be glad to see her put in her place but I didn’t want to see her dead.

I decided it was time to get to work and while my mate rested was the best time. I gently rolled her off me and covered her up. I dressed and hurried downstairs where all my males still sat around. I knew they had heard me, even a human would have. I could see the envy in their looks. A mate that could make you howl was a legend among male wolves. I felt truly blessed, but she could be in danger. She would be for sure if anyone found out that she was from a legendary bloodline.

I would hide it for as long as I could and in this, her father and I would work together. This was one time our interests were one and the same. It was for the best that my males had no idea what was going on beyond me mating a human. Once they knew she was changing, her rich smell might make them question exactly what she was changing into. I didn’t think she knew she was changing herself. We hadn’t discussed it and I knew we needed to.

My males were sent out one by one to deal with one situation or another until it was just Stan and I.

  “She’s changing.” He observed.

I made a decision quickly, I would let Stan know. “She is and I think she is a red wolf. It’ll be a while before we know, but she’s something more than the average wolf.”

Stan nodded, he didn’t seem surprised. “Jam says Delane is going nuts. He’s talking about coming here to reclaim his prize but none of his males are willing to accompany him. His father is considering disowning him and moving the next son up to be his heir. Alpha James thinks his boy is crazy.”

“He has enough sons to pick from.” Reese observed. Alpha James had been mated several times and had male offspring with all of them. His first mate had died bearing her fifth son. The second had died in an accident and the third shot supposedly by hunters.

“It sounds like Delane is insane from what we’ve heard. The most disturbing thing is he’s disappeared and no one knows where he is now.” Stan informed.

“Damn, that’s just great. He could be on his way here for all we know.” Stan nodded and a concerned look was on his face.

“Do you remember the name of the scholar that was with Megan at the house when we freed her?”

“Jim? You said his name was Jim.” Stan said uncertainly at first but then with confidence.

“Yes, that was his name. I need him brought here and the sooner the better.” I demanded.

Stan hesitated as if he wished to question my instructions but then he decided better. I was in no mood to explain myself.

  “Will do Boss.” He replied.

I nodded, happy to have things starting to get back to normal. At least as normal as things would ever be again with a red wolf mate upstairs sleeping in my bed. I was tempted to go upstairs and see to her, or to see to me and my needs that had once again made themselves known.

I knew I had to stay here, for now anyway and see to the danger that Delane represented and hope they would find Jim soon so I would know at least a little about the powers and dangers my mate would bring me. Jim might also know how determined Delane would be to get her back. I had a feeling I could already guess. Delane would be determined to the point of insanity and he would do whatever he could, use whatever was at his disposal, kill and if I had my way, die in order to recover my red wolf.

I wondered how long Delane had been obsessive and off his rocker and why his father or those close to him hadn’t noticed. Maybe they had noticed but hadn’t questioned him and I couldn’t imagine why. Maybe it was a weakness in their pack where one male had absolute power and was never questioned or told anything that might upset him. As his heir, Delane would have that power too and I was sure he’d wield it to his personal advantage.

I could challenge the James Pack, Alpha would back me since they endangered his daughter, but we didn’t need the worry of ruling them as well. I wasn’t power hungry or I would have taken them over years ago. I knew I was the strongest fighter in the area. The only one who had any hope of standing toe to toe with me was Alpha and he had no desire to since it would risk both our lives.

Now that I had my mate, if anything, I wanted less work so I could spend time with her. Megan fascinated me in more than just the physical way. She was intelligent and I sensed a goodness in her that I admired. It amazed me that she hadn’t come to my attention before since she was so sexy. I would admit the alpha impressed me with how well he had hidden her. The problem was now that she was exposed, there would be no hiding any more.

I pulled out a stack of paperwork. My hand often gave out before all the forms were signed. Pack politics required my personal signature and not a stamp. We were behind the times in many ways, but a stamp was easy to steal. I set about getting my work done while I hoped for a distraction to save me from the boredom. I knew Megan would be resting and the change would take a lot out of her. She would need large quantities of food, water and sleep. She would also crave sex nonstop and I would be happy to help her with that.

That was the sum total of what I knew about the change, but I knew someone who knew so much more. She might even know about the red wolves and I had heard she knew how to keep a confidence. I went to my computer and logged on. I looked up her number and wrote it down. I closed my eyes, relaxed and thought about the risk I would be taking versus the information I could get. Was it worth it?

I pulled out my phone and dialed the number listening to it ring. It was answered on the
third ring. “Author inspired, wait a moment.” The husky female voice said.

Damn, even her voice was appealing. Was this a white wolf trait or something personal to just her? I’d heard so much about her that it was hard to know what was true. Some had come from people I trusted that had met her personally. Those that were male had been smitten immediately. Females tended to like her or be eaten up with envy to where their opinion was worthless.

“I’m back. How can I help you?”

“Hello, I’m the overseer of a wolf pack town down south. You can call me Reese, may I call you Ariel?”

“Certainly Reese. What were you needing?”

“I have a female going through the change. It’s something that’s rare here and I’m concerned for her.”

“Your mate?” She guessed. “Is she a white wolf, or something else?”

“Yes my mate and I’m not completely sure but I believe her to be a red wolf.”

“Okay, they are different from white wolves. What exactly do you want to know?’

“How do I help her through this change and what can I tell her to expect?”

“First I must warn you that the change is different for each individual but I can give you some approximate guidelines that we have learned, some the hard way. First, she will revert to her primitive and most basic needs and they will be ten times her normal needs once the change kicks in fully. This is the beast nature of the wolf exerting its influence. She will be hungrier and thirstier than you ever thought possible. Her need for sleep will be great and she will crave sex, possibly very rough sex and you need to give it to her. Don’t worry about hurting her, she knows what she can handle and it may be more than you can at this stage.”

“You’re kidding. I’m a male wolf, no one can handle more than I can.” I replied. I knew I sounded arrogant but a mere human being tougher than me? Not happening.

“You’ve been warned. She will get to the point where her skin itches. This is a good sign that the change is nearly done. At this point you will need to take her to the woods so she can attempt to change. You must find a safe place because her wolf will be like a youngling. She will not listen to you and may run off. She will be curious and want to see everything first hand and she will be playful.”

“Why must it be the woods?”

“Because they will call to her and aid her first change. It may hurt, she will need the distraction. You also should tell her to visualize her wolf. She needs to relax and pull her to her mind’s eye. It is often helpful to kiss and caress her to help her relax. It usually comes over them fast but sometimes you may have to try three or more times. These failures may leave fur patches, but so far the final change resulted in them going away once they changed back to human form. Do you understand all this?”

“Yes. Now can you tell me what a red wolf does? Why are they so sought after? She was already abducted once and I worry for her.”

“Red wolves have two main talents. The main one and one they have no choice but to use, is they are a power magnifier. Just by mating you she has increased your alpha power.”

“How do you know I’m an alpha?”

“You’re an alpha, no doubt. Even if I didn’t hear it in your voice, red and white wolves only choose alphas. There were forced matings to others, but their soul mates are always alphas.”

  “What is her other talent?”

“Her other major talent is compelling truth. This is an ability she must draw out and learn to use. It’s possible she may never learn to use it but she has it nevertheless. There are other minor abilities like drawing in males. They are present to different degrees in different red wolves and no one knows what they all might be. Be careful who you reveal her to because there are those that have hounded my family for mates that will come after her as well.”

“Thank you. You have told me far more than I expected.”

“I was happy to be able to help. I wish you well.” She said genuinely.

“May the goddess be with you as well.” I offered before I hung up.

It would be an understatement to say I had a lot to think about. I’d been impressed with Ariel’s willingness to help, her calm demeanor and her advice. I was also happy with my decision to call her. I probably knew as much as anyone did now about red wolves. The rest I would find out as my mate developed whatever talents she might have. I wondered if it made me less of a male that I would have preferred a weak human to a legendary red wolf. It didn’t really matter since I was falling in love with my mate and the only way anyone would get her would be over my dead body.

I was alone in my office but I found I wished someone would come in, any male would do because the females would do nothing but cause me trouble with my mate. She’d been sleeping about two hours. According to what Ariel had told me, when she woke she would have unnatural hungers for many things.

Werewolves were supernatural and as such possessed magic. Ours was, for the most part, a solid magic that had limited uses. We could heal ourselves from all but the most lethal wounds, we hardly aged once we hit twenty-one human years and we had the ability to change to a wolf. There were shape shifters that could change to other forms, even some that could change to more than one form or many forms but I had no personal knowledge of any but canines, felines and the rarest of all, birds of prey. Those I knew personally had their human form and one other only. I had always suspected that multiple form shifters belonged in the realm of legends.

My view on what was legend was changing now that white and possibly red wolves had come back into existence. I’d never believed in either of those before and now I was forced to reconsider what was real and what was fairy tale. It made me even more nervous and I feared the entry into my quiet world of fluid magic which was possibly the only thing my wolf was frightened of. I thought those who worked it might come because the advent of the white wolf had brought witches and other magic users out in droves.

Fluid magic was the kind with unlimited uses. It wasn’t restricted to a handful of definite purposes, no those who used it were only limited by their creativity and their skill. They could turn a wolf into a frog, a frog into a dragon and a dragon into a wolf. They could conjure lightening, fire, cyclones, tidal waves and any manner of thing they could think of, real or imaginary. He wasn’t sure there was anything they couldn’t wish on you or possibly even force you to do, though you might be unwilling. Of course all that could only be done by those of great skill, but how could a wolf judge who could and who couldn’t?

After all, all witches looked alike unless they were attractive females and now that I was happily mated, I was sure they would all look alike too. I really couldn’t remember an attractive witch but I had always made it a point to stay away from them if I knew what they were. Vampires had solid magic like wolves, but they were to be avoided at all cost. They liked wolf blood just a little too much and only death awaited in their less than loving embrace. It really wasn’t the embrace that was to be feared. It only held you still for their deadly bite.

It was a crazy world we lived in and a wolf had to be ready to fight at a moment’s notice. The humans would be hysterical if they found out about the supernatural world hidden in plain sight among them. The supernaturals were at each other’s throats and even your own kind was something to watch out for as Delane was proof of. Here I sat just waiting for Delane to make his move on my mate, Megan. Delane would most likely die, but it would be a price he brought on himself.

I sat there a while longer waiting to see if anyone came back, playing around with my emails and paperwork and wondering if Megan had caught up on her sleep yet. I had a strong desire to go to her and wake her up if necessary and mate her like the beast I was. I wasn’t sure of it was Ariel’s words about the hard and fast sex she could handle or just the need of the newly mated that was surging through my system, but I fought it down to be the considerate mate Megan needed.

I knew she needed to sleep until she felt rested enough to wake and that s
he would find me whenever that might be. I couldn’t even begin to understand what her body was going through with the changes being wrought on the most basic level. A whole being was pushing itself inside her and demanding its own space. An intelligent, beautiful and wild creature that would be so different from the human part that lived in her alone before the change.

Even though this wild beast was different on so many levels, some would be the same. If she was good, which I knew her to be, her wolf would be basically good. If she was kind, her wolf too would be so. The basic spirit of the human would be the same spirit her beast would have. On the other hand, her beast would lend her human self whatever strength she needed. She would make her more in areas where she was less. The human and the beast would meld together to be a stronger more able creature.

I rarely thought about humans but now as I did, in relation to my soon to be not so human mate, I thought they must have strong spirits to be so weak in so many ways and yet continue on without giving up. Maybe it wasn’t as bad as I thought since they had never known the strength and the healing my kind had always had. Humans were really to be pitied not punished more as some of my fellow wolves did. It was against our laws but I knew some hunted them, some drank their blood and a few extremists even ate them. I didn’t allow this and if caught, punishments were severe.

The laws had been enforced more severely when white wolves were discovered. What if someone ate a human that might have been a white wolf? That just couldn’t be allowed. It would be worse once everyone knew about the red wolves. I would try to keep a lid on things but it was just a matter of time. I could imagine how insane things would be. The council would send an investigator like they had to the first alpha to mate a white wolf. It wouldn’t be the same one, Nigel was in England enjoying mated life with his very own white wolf Bekka. They would ask all kinds of questions and few knew the answers. Megan didn’t know anything about her blood family and I wasn’t sure the alpha knew much. Jim, now he might know a thing or two but they wouldn’t know to ask him and I wasn’t telling.
