He took a few minutes to enjoy the warm comforting feel of her lying there relaxed once sleep had claimed her. Her body had sought his once she had been asleep and her conscious mind no longer ruled. It wasn’t just his desire that they be together, it was what she wanted on a primal level too. That wouldn’t stop her from fighting their mating. Normally he looked forward to a good fight, but he wanted her too much to take a chance on losing her.
So he just held her close and breathed in her alluring scent. Her head was near his heart which was only right since she already owned it and her breathing was deep and even, almost hypnotic. Before he knew it, he joined her in sleep. The plan was for their waking to be a gentle thing, a chance for him to make love to her again before other matters intruded. It just didn’t work out that way because it was the alarm that ended up waking him and he was certain they’d only slept a couple hours. Shaking her awake, he started dressing for battle. Nothing needed to be said as she got her clothes and dressed quickly too.
They hurried down the hall where the rest of the team met them. Trevor was there too even though he was on doctor ordered rest. Radvar let him come and she held her tongue even though Radvar knew she was dying to say something. It had been obvious in the way her mouth opened then shut tight in a hardline. The flash to the planet was quick and they were immediately in the thick of things. They were also outnumbered. It was not quite two to one and Radvar called for backup. He wouldn’t have had it just been his team and the human men. The females were too precious to take the risk. Even though they were warriors, and his Shay was the best of them, he would always protect the females.
They were nearly done when the help arrived. He was not pleased with their response time. Shay had taken out two Dramites and had suffered a wound across her stomach. He took her straight to Talai. As his sister examined his mate, she raised an eyebrow at him. Smiling back at her, he wasn’t surprised she had noticed the mating. When he bit Shay, it had bonded them. Her biting him back had strengthened the bond and the exchange of genetic materials would cause a change in both of them.
His people were unique in their mating as far as he knew. The genetic exchange would give Shay traits his people had that would benefit her. It would also choose traits from her that would benefit him. He’d never seen another race that had that ability. It was why his people ruled their part of the galaxy and it made for a strong mating, strengthened the couple, and the offspring benefitted too. Each generation improved as more compatible races were brought into the fold.
“So when did this happen?” Talai asked. She was referring to the mating that Shay was unaware of.
“Just a little while ago,” Shay said nibbling her lip and scrunching her forehead.
He shook his head hoping Talai would drop it for now. She gave Shay a painkiller and even though Shay fought to stay awake, her eyes finally closed. Radvar knew his mate hated to lose control and being sedated would be like an insult to her. Talai continued to work examining and treating the more serious wound before moving on to the lesser ones.
“Why did you mate her so quickly?” she asked.
“I didn’t intend to, I just did. It matters not, she is mine and her people agreed to my terms,” he said.
“Junior?” she asked. Her eyes shone and a half smile was visible. Talai never got excited about anything, but she seemed excited now. Was Junior her one? Darin wanted Jade, his cousin Collin wanted her cousin Jules. Why were all these matches from one family? Maybe it was because it was a strong family.
“Is he your one?” he asked.
“I believe he is. I’ve never felt this much interest in a male before. I don’t want to jump in, but I would like him to be nearby so we can get to know each other,” she admitted. “How will you word your terms?”
“Every person on this ship who needs a mate will get one. They will have their choice of Earth’s unmated people. We will also ask for small amounts of certain resources. The mates are what we need and want most. Shay’s team will not be leaving us. They will all stay. Trevor and Mike have made an impression on some of our females as well.”
“I know you think it odd that I and the other females couldn’t find mates with so many of our males on the ship. I would remind you that you had more females than that paraded before you back home. It was embarrassing at times watching them chase you.”
“You are wrong, I do understand. It has to be the one the goddess selected. We have no real choice, it was already made for us.”
“Sometimes I remember you’re my bratty brother and I forget you’re also a wise leader,” Talai said as she got up on her tippy toes to kiss his cheek.
“The flattery will go to my head,” Radvar growled.
“Your mate will knock it out of you,” Talai teased with a giggle.
My mate, the sound is so sweet. “I’d best go and start my talk with the president. Waiting will only cause trouble and we need to deal with the Dramites sooner rather than later,” he said as he turned to go. “Call me when she wakes.”
Radvar goes straight to his office because the deal with the humans is the most important thing going on. His males and a few females need mates. They are all mating age and to be single is alright but to think you’ll spend the rest of your life that way isn’t. There’s a need all Majuri have and that’s to have someone stand beside you. They make you whole and they fill in the losses and the sadness with joy. Everyone needs their Darji, their mate. For some reason the word won’t translate and maybe that is because a Darji is so much more than a spouse or a mate. A Darji are everything.
Sitting at his desk, he composed himself first so he will be calm and collected. Mark Banon will be waiting for his call. Now that they have made a deal they want to know what their safety will cost them. Radvar doesn’t like Banon. He had a feeling the man will be relieved to trade people instead of other resources until he finds out who the people are. Losing their world’s heroes and the best and brightest, will be a hard hit. In a world severely over-populated, losing random unknown people would be a good thing and he could give it a positive spin. The button is right in front of him and he pushed it. He heard the device ring once before it’s answered.
“Banon here,” he said.
“This is Radvar,” he informed.
“Radvar, I’ve been waiting for you to call. Are you going to let me know what you’re people want?””
“I will give you the first thing. I need five thousand humans mostly females. We will select the single ones we want. That way there won’t be a spouse left behind. If there are single and have children, if they are selected the children will come with them.”
“I see. Might I ask what you want with our people?”
“We are colonizing a nearby planet and we need people with certain skills and we wish to even the numbers for potential mating.”
“Any idea who these people may be?”
“We already have the first six.”
“Who are they?”
“You misunderstood me, they are the six person team we have on board.”
“B-but you can’t keep them!” Banon’s face turned purple and Radvar wondered if it would explode.
“They will be the first and we will keep them with us. We plan to attack the Dramites so they will leave Earth’s orbit and we hope to destroy them out in space. We will send you a list of the next chosen so they will be prepared when we return.”
Banon was still trying to form a complete word when Radvar ended the call. It would be funny if he didn’t know his mate was not going to approve. She wanted him and that should make things easier, but she would fight him every step of the way. Now that Banon had been notified and he had made clear his intentions to destroy the Dramites, it was time to prepare. Radvar headed back to the med center where Talai was still observing Shay.
“What did he say?” she asked.
“He had trouble speaking he was so stunned.”
“Think he’ll cause trouble or try to renege on th
e deal?”
“He can try, but he can’t stop us from taking whoever we want. A deal is a deal. Shay’s team will be staying with us and he is aware. I think that was what upset him the most.”
“I’m glad I’m not him. He’ll have to explain how he lost the world’s greatest heroes.”
“You’ve been reading up on Shay and her family?”
“They are amazing examples of humanity. What surprises me is that Junior and Mike both outrank her but she leads the team.”
“She’s the expert on sword fighting, knives, and hand to hand. What they know, she taught them. It’s her hobby and they are using her collection to fight with. It’s amazing that she would be so passionate about a style of combat her people don’t use anymore and that it would turn out to be so important.”
“In any other family that would have been discouraged.”
“It always amazes me when so many things have to align for the desired result and they do. The Dramites could have found Earth before we did. They would have thought they were at a smorgasbord. When will Shay wake?”
“I can wake her now if you want. I’d just like to see her fully rested with all that’s ahead of her.”
“I’ll come back later. Just call if she wakes.”
Radvar sent messages to his top five. It was time to deal with the Dramites. Darin and Collin were waiting on him in his office which was just off the bridge where they’d been on duty. Quirry and Juarry and Rasmun came in looking as if they had just rolled out of bed. Actus looked fresh and well put together as always. Humans would say he was spit and polish. Radvar wondered if he was a demon sometimes because he always looked so perfect. It wasn’t normal.
“What’s going on, Molus?” Quirry asked. It was an old title of command that didn’t translate to any Earth term. It meant something like he who controls all. It was meant in a military sense. The translator had originally interpreted as being the same as the human word god, but that wasn’t correct.
“I have spoken to their president. He has agreed to our terms and we are keeping Shay and her team with us. We will prepare a list of a thousand names so their people can prepare to leave their planet when we return. We will be chasing the Dramites down and we will destroy them,” Radvar said.
“And if he refuses to give you the humans?” Actus asked. He usually asked the hard questions, the ones others wanted to ask but didn’t.
”They have agreed. If they refuse to help gather them, we’ll do it on our own. Every member of this crew will have a chance at a mate,” Radvar insisted.
“What if none of the humans work for them?” Quirry asked. Radvar knew he worried that his mate was back home and none of the humans would do.
“We will look until we find them,” he assured. He’d turn over every stone and look behind every bush to find his people their mates. He was even more determined now that he had his own.
Talai messaged him and he dismissed his males to go to Shay. He went into medical and Shay was sitting up looking disgruntled. “I wanted to go, but Talai wouldn’t let me,” she said, he almost expected her to stick out her tongue at Talai. He had to admit he wasn’t a good patient either, because he wanted to leave as quickly as possible.
“Can I take her?” he asked.
Talai nodded. “Make sure she doesn’t strain herself and that she continues to get plenty of rest.”
Radver picked Shay up and started carrying her to his room. “Hey, I can walk!” she exclaimed.
“I’m sure you can, but I can carry you easier,” he observed. She huffed which he thought was adorable even if it showed she was frustrated with him.
“Neanderthal,” she muttered but he heard her.
“What does this situation have to do with your early ancestors?” he asked his brow wrinkled.
“They felt if they were strong enough they could do whatever they wanted. Scientist theorized that the alpha males would just choose a female and drag her off to their cave.”
“What’s wrong with that?”
“You’re proving my point. A female has the right to choose, to decide who she wants, and have a say in her day to day life.”
“All this because you are injured and I carried you?”
“You chose to carry me instead of letting me choose to walk.”
“Doctors orders were that you take it easy.” He moved his mouth near her ear. “I also like the way you feel in my arms.” He pulled his head up and examined her. Radvar loved the way she turned pink when he talked about touching her.
“You’re trying to distract me.”
“Is it working?”
“A little bit,” she admitted.
“I’ll have to try harder.”
They were at his room, he opened the door, it closed behind him, and he let her body slide down the front of his. He leaned down, brushed her lips lightly, and heard her catch her breath. She wasn’t indifferent to him and he needed her to remember what it was like when they had joined together before he gave her any more news. Shay tried to step away but he moved with her. This time the kiss he gave her consumed them both.
Pushing her back on the bed, she lay there watching as he stripped out of his clothes.
“Looks like you’ve got too much clothes on, Darji.”
He worked on her pants while she struggled out of her shirt. When she was naked he examined her beautiful body. She was curvaceous just like he preferred. There was plenty to hold onto but she was healthy and had good muscle tone. Radvar had seen she was in good shape when they worked out both in the gym and in the bedroom. Desire roared through him and he took a deep breath to calm himself. Slow and easy was the way he wanted to do this so they could both savor it. Leaning on his forearms, he started with a passionate kiss. Once he had her panting for him, he moved his mouth kissing and nibbling his way down her neck and shoulder. He cupped her breast with one hand and he moved his mouth over that rosy nipple tugging it in deep. She arched upward and threaded her hands through his hair.
“Yesss,” she moaned.
Then he moved to her other breast giving it equal time. His lips continued their way down worshiping her body, she squirmed and moaned more the lower he got. Once he was between her legs he slid in one finger to test her readiness. He slid it in and out a few times before adding another finger. Her channel clenched tight around him but she was slick enough to ease his entry. The scent of her need drove him crazy and he lowered his head first to inhale and then his tongue could find her little bundle of nerves.
She jerked as his tongue slid over and around her clit. He worried it and he drove his fingers in and out finally adding a third and final finger. Her channel was so tight her juice was all that allowed him to continue to finger fuck her. Faster, his fingers drilled into her and his tongue rubbed over her nubbin. The sexual tension in her was rising and she would soon explode around him.
“More,” she growled her voice low and sexy.
It was his pleasure to give her what she wanted. His eyes were on her face wanting to see her expression as she exploded. Harder and deeper, he drove his fingers into her while whipping his tongue on her clit. There was no way she could hold out any longer. Her body froze and then she clenched and clutched at him as she screamed his name so loud, his ears rang. Her face was thrown back, flushed, and her eyes which were half open were glazed. He moved his fingers to his mouth giving them a lick before he slid up her body impaling her on his rigid shaft.
Aching for her so much he feared he wouldn’t last long, he did all he could to give her one more orgasm. He drove in hard and fast as her legs wrapped around him. Her channel squeezed him tight and he pounded into her. Radvar felt exhilaration every time he touched her. Right now he tingled all over, he felt giddy as he rode the edge of what would be a monumental release. Her muscles massaged him and then they clamped down as she went over the edge and he rode along with her. Waves of bliss washed over him while he bucked and jerked into her. The experience was so euphoric he had nothing else t
o compare it too. There was no way in hell he would ever let her go.
They were both slicked with sweat. “I think we need a shower,” he suggested.
“You seduce me and I can’t think. I heard something about the president before I was all drugged out. I don’t like being sedated, by the way. Tell me what’s going on,” she demanded.
What should he tell her? Break it to her a bit at a time? “You and your team will be assigned to us for a while. We are planning an attack and we will be going after the Dramites soon. Each of your team will pick an area of interest and work there while we carry out this plan,” he explained.
“Is this an exchange program?” she asked.
“No, we won’t be sending anyone to Earth,” he admitted.
“There’s more, isn’t there,” she asked.
“Yes, but I can’t tell you yet,” he explained.
“I’m not going to like it am I?” she asked.
“No, but you will eventually accept it,” he said.
“Let’s take that shower,” she said abruptly changing the subject.
Was it too much to hope that she was just a soldier understanding some information was always withheld by the superiors? He wanted to tell her, but he couldn’t take a chance that she would try to leave him. It wouldn’t be hard to get her back, but he wanted her with him all the time. It was an attachment that had formed between them that was normal between mates among his people. Radvar could only hope she was forming some attachment to him as well.
They made their way into the bathroom and the shower stall. “I love taking showers with you,” he admitted.
“I enjoy showers with you, too,” she agreed. Goddess, he hoped she meant that.
After a fun filled experience in the bathroom, they dried off and dressed. He messaged his males and had each of them bring one of Shay’s team to the meeting. There wouldn’t be a lot to plan, but this would be more of an information sharing meeting anyway.
He and Shay were there first but the others made it before long. They greeted them as they came in the room. “This is a battle planning session,” he explained once everyone was there and in their seats. “Shay’s team will be staying with us for a while. The president and I discussed it this morning. I am to use you at my discretion. I’d like to know what your areas of expertise are. Why don’t we start with Junior?”
