He growled, maybe because she was forcing his pace. She knew gods liked to dominate, she had read that everywhere. This was her dream and he’d do it her way. She slammed up against him one more time and and her whole body seized. She tightened around Adonis and squeezed for all she was worth. Her tight channel pulled his reluctant orgasm right out of him while she was writhing with her own. She was drowning in a sea of pleasure that she never wanted to leave. It was so wonderful, so sweet and just what a dream should be, perfect. She still felt a sense of euphoria washing over her after the giddiness of climax had run its course. She had never felt so amazing and exhausted. She fell into a deep untroubled sleep.
Chapter 4
All about the Mission
Adonis lay still inside Lucy using his elbows and knees to hold his weight off her. He was in a state of shock over what had just happened and how it had made him feel. One thing was for certain, he couldn’t stay like this all night but he was loathed to move where they weren’t touching. He rolled them to their sides, this was much better. He had managed to stay inside her and he liked the way it felt. He wanted to get up and dance. He had found his mate, his! He’d never in his fondest dreams dared hope this would happen to him.
She was so beautiful, so feisty, and just so perfect. He just knew on a basic soul deep level that she was the right one for him. That she was his mate, he knew but it led to other questions that made his head hurt. He should be sleeping but the only way that would happen was if he could bite himself. He didn’t begrudge his mate her deep slumber, he just wanted to share to with her. It was just one of many things he wanted to share with her. It made him remember some of the difficulties other gods had had with their human mates. Oh, dear father Cronos what if she didn’t want him? What if she did but she wanted to live in this dangerous world of hers?
Adonis had been disappointed and worried before but this was the first time he’d ever had a headache like this. God’s rarely got them and they never lasted long. He needed sleep for their very important mission and yet he couldn’t close his eyes with the excitement zipping through his body and the pain throbbing in his head. He told himself everything would be just fine. Where was his friend Afrod when he needed him. He always saw the positive side of things. He would tell him that everything would be fine and Adonis would believe it because he needed to desperately.
Thinking of Olympus and his fellow gods helped calm Adonis enough to dull his headache. Once that happened, his exhaustion and need for sleep took over. He pulled his mate in closer and he took deep calming breaths that made her scent wash over him. She was his and he was hers and that was just the way it was. He would deal with her tomorrow after they raided the facility and recovered the prisoners. His eyes close and he drifted off into a gentle sleep.
He woke up the next morning early and he had a raging hard on but it was sunk into a hot wet place. Her smell rolled over him adding to his sexual need and his memory came roaring back. Wow, he had a mate, and honest to goodness mate. Oh, and she probably didn’t know what she was to him or what it meant. No problem, right? Aw, he was so fucked!
“Oh, my God!” Lucy said. The shock on her face would have been funny under other circumstances. “It wasn’t a dream,” she whispered.
He took a chance and leaned in to kiss her. She was hesitant at first but then she responded. Her body was primed for his and he wanted her so much. He moved to her neck and he bit her. He wanted them to be together before their mission and he was sure she would never calm enough to enjoy it. Now she was calm. He started moving inside her slowly and she shivered with need. Her moan was full of pleasure and want that only he could satisfy. He moved faster as she arched against him pushing him to go harder. She made encouraging noises as she wrapped her legs around him, hooking them, and hanging on for the ride.
He slammed into her hard sliding against her clit every time until she tensed up and screamed his name. He let himself go then, losing himself in his climax and letting the waves of pleasure roll over him. She was out cold, but there was enough time to let her rest a while. He showered and dressed, left to eat and brought food back for her. He gently shook her to wake her and thought she looked adorable with her tousled hair and sleepy face.
“What’s the matter? What time is it?”
“It’s time to get up and get ready. I brought you something to eat and you need to shower and dress. You’ve got thirty minutes before we need to go.”
“Oh, shit!” she exclaimed and suddenly she was fully awake and alert. She ran to the shower washing quickly and thoroughly. She combed out her wet hair so it could air dry and dressed. She wolfed down her food and then she washed her face and put on her makeup. She grabbed her purse and gestured she was ready to go. They had five minutes to spare.
They walked out to the lobby where a few of the other gods waited. Lucy was calm and seemed to be focusing on the mission instead of what had happened between them. He was glad of that because this mission was so important not just to Lucy and her daughter, but to Perseus and any other prisoners who were being abused by origin. They couldn’t afford to fail, they wouldn’t fail.
Hercules would be leading them while Jupiter would be in charge of the communications and off site decisions. He would basically keep everyone in contact and informed and if anything went wrong he would be the rallying point for getting them transportation or back up. He was young, but he was good at those types of things and Adonis had no problem trusting him.
Hercules led them out to two vans. He got in the driver’s seat of the van that Lucy would be riding in. Hercules had given them brief instructions before they went to separate vans. Hercules drove the other one. If anyone saw Lucy get out of this van and asked about it, she would say that she had a new boyfriend who liked pregnant women. Adonis smiled to himself, he liked this pregnant woman. Other pregnant females he’d been around had made him feel protective, maybe even envious, but never amorous. That was because they weren’t his female.
He felt the most worry he had ever felt in his life as he thought about Lucy entering that facility all alone and drawing their wrath down on her. He pulled in across the road from the fertility clinic amazed that such a dangerous and tragic place could look so innocent. It looked like many doctor offices across the country with its brick exterior and landscaped grounds. It looked like it was one level from the front but he saw where it dropped off in the back and there were loading docks. It had previously been some kind of storage facility that shipped and received product.
He felt an odd feeling in the pit of his stomach as Lucy drew in a deep breath and prepared to get out of the van. He leaned over and pulled her into his arms and gave her a kiss that held comfort along with need. “Just for luck,” he explained but she didn’t seem to mind.
He had thought before that his job would be easy but now he realized it was the hardest one of all. He would sit and wait, able to hear everything but do nothing at all. He checked her necklace which contained a listening device so they would all know how things were going with her and not have to guess. Everything looked good and he knew it was time to let her go. His heart dropped to his stomach as he watched her go up to the gate. They waived her right in almost as if they had expected her. These guards would be taken out last. Lucy insisted they had no idea what was going on inside and rarely went into the building at all. Their job was the security of the grounds and limiting the entry to only approved employees and visitors.
“Everyone in place and alert?” Hercules asked. “It’s almost game on time.” Such an odd expression Hercules used. Most people said game time and game on referred to a challenge but Hercules had his oddities.
“Ready,” Adonis said into his radio. Others checked in as well.
It was time and Jupiter should have everything taken care of as far as the security cameras and alarms went. Lucy was in place and she was arguing with the doctor. He could hear her telling him about the pictures and he was freaking out. He tried to tell her they
were faked, but they were obviously taken there. The discussion was getting heated and he worried what the doctor might do. All of their gods were in and they were fanning out. One of them should get to her soon.
Adonis gritted his teeth together in frustration. She was unprotected, but he knew she was tough. But what if the doctor carried a weapon? Adonis had never felt more helpless in his life, not even when he was a prisoner. Did all the mated gods go through this worry over their mate? How did they manage not to lose their minds?
The doctor tried to grab her but Lucy stepped to the side, twisted his arm behind him, and kept it there painfully. Aiakos now made his appearance. He was named after a king of Crete and everyone called him Yak. He’d never liked it but he’d long since given up trying to change it. He was talkative for a god and that was why the nickname had stuck. It wasn’t how his name was pronounced but it was the way humans tended to say it when they read it off. Adonis was just relieved that Yak was there to take charge of the doctor and ensure Lucy’s safety.
Adonis looked closely and Lucy was no where to be found. She’d been warned to follow instructions but it didn’t look like she listened well. She was endangering herself and the baby by going off on her own. Adonis had noticed the mates of gods tended to be independent and strong willed. He just didn’t see how he could ever get use to the worry for her well being.
“Herc, Lucy’s slipped away,” Adonis whispered his voice cracking.
“We’ll find her, don’t worry,” Hercules said. He didn’t let many call him Herc, but they all knew Zeus and some of their group called him that. It had just slipped out but Hercules was overlooking it in favor of dealing with more serious matters.
Adonis was nervous and he had a bad feeling. It was a very bad feeling that was just getting worse. He didn’t really know if he was picking up on what Lucy was feeling or if his brain was working overtime coming up with all the bad possibilities that her going off on her own could lead to. He had his answer moments later when Lucy, escorted by two men in security uniforms, was being led to the gate. She looked angry more than frightened, but she had clearly lost control of the situation. The guards opened the gate waiving them through without a second look.
They took her to a van parked nearby and pushed her in the back. They were going to leave and Adonis had to decide what to do. He couldn’t allow his mate to be harmed, but did he tell Hercules he was leaving, or just go? Hercules needed to know he wouldn’t be there.
“Hercules, Lucy was taken out the front and they’re driving off in a van. I’m pursuing at a safe distance.”
“I understand. We’ve got things under control here for now.”
Adonis started the van and followed as soon as they were around the corner. He turned the corner and they were once again in sight. He hung back so he wouldn’t be spotted even though he fear losing them. He was shaking with the fear that the thought of losing his female gave him. He was fighting the impulse just to crash into them and take her back forcibly. His fear of harming her and bringing down the local authorities were the only things holding him back.
He continued to follow, losing sight for a few moments here and there until they finally stopped at a hotel. He was worried about what they might have in mind since his mate was so beautiful. He’d break into their room and kill them all if he scented any indication that rape was their goal.
He called into Hercules. “Hercules.”
“It’s Adonis, they’ve stopped at a hotel.”
“Okay, our mission here was successful. We have several prisoners, Perseus, babies, and two mothers. I’m not sure why they chose to keep these two but I think it has something to do with no one missing them. Text me the coordinates and we’ll meet you there. Just stay in the van and monitor the situation. Okay?” Hercules asked.
“Okay, as long as nothing bad happens,” Adonis agreed reluctantly. It was driving him crazy that she was in there with two strange human males. He could still hear some things, but her listening device seemed to be defective or it was covered.
“It won’t be long, Adonis. I promise you we’re on our way.”
“I’ll be waiting.”
The line went dead but it didn’t matter because he knew Hercules would be there as fast as he could. He listened to what he could hear but he was only catching some words. He stayed calm because Lucy hadn’t screamed. If they tried to mess with her, he knew she would scream. He was close enough that he could be there quickly. He told himself that over and over so he would believe it. If she screams, but she didn’t scream and he saw one of the other vehicles pulling up behind him. Relief rushed through him as he saw Hercules get out and join him in the van.
“How should we go about getting your mate?” Hercules asked.
Adonis flushed. He’d thought no one had noticed, but he’d been wrong. “The direct approach?”
“Can we safeguard her if we go in that way?”
“We’ll know where she is and we’ll do a John Wayne, both guns blazing, save the girl, and ride off into the sunset,” Adonis explained.
“You know it’s our goal to take them alive? Not just because we abhor killing, Origin made us kill enough people, but because we need to interrogate them. There may still be hundreds of gods and now even babies out there waiting for us to find them,” Hercules pointed out. Adonis understood, but he still liked the thought of guns blazing.
“Why don’t we use knock out gas?”
“Your mate may not appreciate it,” Hercules said.
“She has little room to talk. We’re extricating her from a situation she caused by not following instructions.”
“I think you’ll find that makes no difference, but that way will make things easier.”
It was agreed upon that they would send in knock out gas, the best way being under the door. They had a colorless, odorless, or at least hard to detect, kind that would do the trick. They would have to hack into the hotel cameras but they had to find the floor that the room was on first.
“Let’s go,” Hercules ordered. Adonis was right behind him. He wanted her back sooner rather than later. Jupiter was on standby and had already hacked into the hotel security. Once the room was located, which would be no problem with their sense of smell, Yak would bring up the gas. The canisters were small and he would attach a hose to them and funnel it under the door. With the security cameras looping, other guests would be the only problem.
They entered the lobby and other than the interested looks the desk clerk, a young female, sent their way, no one else was around. Since this was a business class hotel, most guests were gone for the day. There would be exceptions so they needed to get in and out. They got in the elevator and hit the second floor. Adonis could scent her in the elevator. The sickly sweet smell of her fear made him furious and he would get his pound of flesh. They stopped on the second floor and the door opened, there was no trace of her outside the elevator. He stepped back in and there was similar results for the next three floors until they got to the sixth floor.
“This one,” Adonis confirmed. He could now scent pain as well as fear and his face became a mask of outrage.
“Calm, brother,” Hercules whispered. “All things in good time, first we must save her.”
Adonis knew Hercules had already called for the cameras to loop and Yak to bring up the gas. Now they followed the scent trail to find the room she was in. It was room six hundred and eight so it wasn’t far from the elevator. They could hear the males talking to each other as they listened at the door. Yak had been waiting near the lobby and he was there in just moments. He slid the hose under the door turned on the canister, a small hiss accompanied the gas as it ran into the room. They would be unconscious before they knew what hit them. Gods had a higher tolerance to the gas so they would wait for it to work and just go in to drag them out.
One of the gods had driven a van to the back exit. They would each grab somebody and take them down one at a time. Jupiter would loop all the cameras they needed
to pass. The males were talking and then suddenly it got quiet. Hercules forced the door, the males were out and so was Lucy. She would have a headache when she woke and she would be pissed. Adonis smiled as he lifted her into his arms. He would take her down first since she was the most important. As soon as he was on the first floor he notified Hercules who brought down the next guy.
Adonis was lucky as he carried Lucy out, no one was around. Hercules made it out with no problems and now only Yak was left. He was in contact with them and as the elevator hit the second floor, it opened to let someone in. Adonis heard him tell them there was a medical emergency. That was quick thinking. He came on down to the first floor and out to the van. The god in front drove away quick as a wink. Adonis was grateful they’d made it. He looked down at his quiet mate, she wouldn’t be quiet for long but she had plenty to keep her busy once she woke since Hercules said the baby had been recovered.
They headed straight for the airport. Jupiter was seeing that all their rooms were empty and everything was brought to the plane. Adonis wasn’t stupid, Lucy would be furious when she woke halfway to Olympus. He hoped he could calm her and he couldn’t wait to see the baby. It had occurred to him that she might be his. If she wasn’t, he would claim her anyway just as he had already claimed the mother. They made it to the airport and he carried Lucy onboard and settled her into the bedroom. The males they had captured were handcuffed to chairs that were in the middle and out of the way. They would not be mistreated, but no one cared if they were comfortable either.
Four babies were brought onboard, two carried by their mothers. The other two brought on by gods. One handed Adonis a little girl. She was gorgeous and he fell in love the moment her little hand wrapped around his finger. Her eyes were closed but her mouth moved as if sucking on something. She was so precious that nothing mattered but forming a family to protect, cherish, and love this little person the way she deserved. Anything she needed would be hers, everything that was needed would be provided no matter what he needed to do. He moved up to sit by Hercules, he needed some help to see that his family had what was necessary.
