  Epilogue

Lu was with her in the water and they were snorkeling. The area under the water around the island was a playground of sunken treasures. The treasures were not gold or jewels since most of the ships had been stripped of any items of value, at least any that were close to shore in the shallow areas they were going to. It was all the plant and animal life that teamed in near the small boats and other items that were so exciting. Their relationship had settled into a comfortable place now that the stress Lu had been under had eased.

Life was almost idyllic here in this tropical paradise. She and Lu both had nice tans and they both had added highlights from being on the beach so much. Lu and the other demons thrived with the new found freedom to go outside even if some of them were limited to the place they called home. Even the most abused and damaged of the demons took some time out on the beach with their brothers around them to protect them from prying eyes.

They were now looking to make the most of their island home and do all they could for the other demons so they could have the best possible life too. Lu had teased her and told her she would be like a mother to his demons since he was the closest thing they’d had to a father.

She was sure most if not all of them were older than her but she did want to help them anyway.

“They could be helped Lu.” Stef said as she looked at the demons. Some missing an arm, leg, eye, ear, or one who’s nose had been cut off.

“Doc tried and she said they would ask when they were ready. I wish I could find a doctor for us to have on staff here, but there are few I would trust with the secret and of those who knew because of Origin, they either work for us or they were guilty as sin. I still would consider hiring one if we could catch one and make them work off their crimes.” He admitted. “I know we would have to watch them closely, but it might be the only way to help some of my people. The ones they hurt the most still suffer physically every day. I want to find a way to ease their pain.”

“What are the odds that you’ll capture one of them?” Stef asked.

“Not very good, but we can hope.” He replied.

They got out of the water and walked back to their room hand in hand. He pulled her into his arms as soon as the door closed. He kissed her with passion and he pulled back.

“I love you.” He whispered. He dropped to one knee and surprise overcame her. “Marry me Stef?” He proposed.

“Yes, oh yes!” She said completely caught off guard.

He had bitten her and they had mated in the way of the gods, but she had thought he wanted nothing more than that. She’d never hinted that she wanted to be his wife. She couldn’t imagine anything that would make her happier, well, except for having a little Lu to love and fuss over.

“I’m going to make you the happiest female in the world.” He promised. “Why don’t we get started on that little one I know you want?”

“I can’t think of anything I’d rather do.” Stef confessed.

They would have challenges, but it was worth taking on anything if they ended the day together. Now they just had some other demons to find mates for so their children would have some buddies to play with!

  Wendigo

Her name was Dr. Risa Howerton and he despised her. She’d worked for the hated Origin even if she’d mostly stayed in the lab. Why Lu had brought her to them, Win didn’t know. She was arrogant, cruel and yet devastatingly beautiful. A perfect example of the inside not reflecting on the outside. After the monstrous acts he’d heard she performed for Origin she should look hideous. It bothered him that being near her set his blood on fire like nothing else ever had. He wanted her gone before he made a mistake he would never recover from.

They’d forced her here to take care of these males that hated her, with him hating her more than the rest of them. They’d put him in charge of her. He drew her in physically but his hatred repelled her. Those mixed feelings confused her more than anything ever had. She wasn’t a bad person even though they treated her like she was. She’d been trapped by Origin, was still trapped by them. Her silence about Origin guaranteed as long as they held her sister and threatened her life.

The chemistry between them was flammable but they both fought against it for their own reasons. Would they ever stop fighting and declare a truce? He could find what he needed more than anything with her if he stopped hating and looked deep into her soul and he was the one that could help her find her sister if she just put her pride aside and ask.

Crash landing on Earth seemed the worst thing that could happen to Xan, his crew and their battered ship. It was only the beginning. Edie wonders if she’s gone crazy when she wakes up looking into the glowing red eyes of a naked, not quite human male. He seems determined to keep her with him, but she’s just as determined to go.
