Chief Radvar (The Chieftains of the Majuri Book 1) Page 15

He plowed into her slick channel and pounded into her until she screamed his name as her release ripped through her. He grabbed hold of her. “Mine,” he yelled to the gods and goddesses or anyone who might hear. As he calmed and his breathing slowed, he whispered, ”Mine.”

His body hugged hers and the warmth felt so good. She smelled delicious and he felt so tired. They would just nap and then they would talk some more but they both fell into a deep sleep and neither woke until morning. When he stirred, she was gone. Thinking about their disagreement last night, he hoped it was something they could get past and work towards their perfect relationship together. He got ready and went to the bridge. Everyone seemed in high spirits and he remembered the feasting they would do today. His males would be excited about the drinking and the chance to meet the human women too. If only all his males could find what he had, if he still had it. Shay was so perfect, it gave him hope she would forgive him.

“Drew the short straw?” he asked when he saw Juarry was the only high ranking warrior present.

“Why would that surprise you? It’s always me. I think they set me up.” Juarry muttered. Radvar thought they did too. No male could be as unlucky as Juarry was.

“I’ll see if I can have someone bring something up for all of you at break. Just be careful and don’t make a mess. You know the rules,” Radvar said.

Those rules were no eating at work stations and only two on break at a time. Everything still needed to be monitored and now more than ever with the ship nearly at capacity. Looking over the reports, he saw the children and 500 more adults had been delivered. One last group and they would be done. They would go after the last target soon.

Radvar commed his warriors to find out where his mate was. It was easier than contacting her and maybe getting a bad response. Her anger last night made his cautious about his approach. She was downstairs near her parents. It was a good place to be because she wouldn’t show her anger around them. He approached their shelter and knocked on the tough material. When no one responded, he called out that he was there. He entered but no one was there. Walking around, he found her in the children’s area with her whole family. They were all trying to make the children feel welcome.

Standing back unseen, he watched her talking and playing with several children. She would be a wonderful mother and he couldn’t wait until their child was born. Moving up behind her, his arms encircled her waist pulling her back against him.

“I’ve missed you,” he whispered in her ear. The shiver he felt run through her delighted him. Dare he hope she had missed him too?

“This was a good thing you’ve done,” she declared as she leaned back into him and surveyed all the children piled around her.

Someone had fixed an area where the children could play and socialize with each other or any adults that came by to visit. There were a lot of adults that visited making him sure that homes would be easily found for all the younger ones. Not all of them looked as healthy as they should. A few looked either ill or starved so he had warriors escort those kids to Talai. He had to smile as the kids rode on the guard’s shoulders laughing and happy. In his mind he wondered if it was the first time they had any joy in their young lives.

“Have any of the young ones expressed an interest in staying with us?” he asked casually.

“Would it be okay if they did?” Shay wondered.

“You really need to ask that?”

“I just wanted to make sure. There are three siblings and they need to be together. The state separated them and that was wrong.”

“I agree, they should be kept together.” Shay threw herself into his arms so hard, he almost fell. To get such a response out of her, he would take all the children to raise.

“I’m so happy and they will be too.” Calling the children over, she pulled a little girl to her. “This is Connie. She is the youngest and four years old. The boys are twins, Ronnie and Jonnie, and they are seven.”

“I’m pleased to meet all of you. Are you ready to come up to our rooms to see where you’ll stay?” he asked. The little girl whose blonde hair was in pigtails looked up at him with big brown eyes and nodded.

The boys also had blond hair but theirs was shaved Earth military style. Their eyes were also brown and there was no doubt they were family. “Yes, sir,” the boys said in unison. Radvar had a feeling they did that a lot and he would have to get used to it.

Leading the way, the kids were behind him with Shay bringing up the rear. It would be lovely to have children around, but he realized his sex life was going to suffer, a lot. Somehow he’d survive, and once they were on Jaded, the children would have a separate area so Shay and he would have some privacy. His quarters were nice, but he would be sacrificing the small office he had so the kids would have a bedroom. Since they were small compared to adults, he would push the desk into a corner and there would be enough room for the three of them to sleep in sleeping bags.

“I think it’s time for the big meal and the announcement,” Shay reminded him.

“Are you hungry kids?” Radvar asked.

“Yes,” the boys said while Connie just nodded rapidly. If he remembered correctly, kids were always hungry.

Shay and he herded them to the ships cafeteria. It could only hold 500 people at once so they would eat in shifts. The first round would be the people that were closest to them. His officers, Shay’s family, and then a mix of Majuri and humans so that the first step could be taken to molding them all into a community. No easy task that he’d taken on but it wasn’t like he’d had a choice. The decision was made and the deed was done.

Entering the room, he was amazed at the decorations and the way things had been set up to look like a dining room. The place was nearly packed and he had two chairs brought for the boys while Connie sat on his lap. It looked like he would be getting a crash course on raising children and he was looking forward to it. Shay introduced the kids to everyone at their table before suggesting a toast. Now it was his turn to share their exciting news.

“I would like to say how much I appreciate my lovely mate. She has made me the happiest male alive. There was no way I thought she could make me even happier and she proved me wrong. We’ve added three wonderful children to our family and we’ll be adding one more.”

Everyone looked around for a second until it soaked in. “A baby?” Shay’s dad asked. “Oh, my God, a grandchild. We’re grandparents four times now.”

“When is the baby due?” Shay’s mom wanted to know.

  “Talai?” he asked.

“I’m not sure. Majuri carry for four to five months, humans for nine plus. It will become obvious as the baby grows,” Talai explained.

It was an enjoyable time with family and even after they were done eating, they all went to the rec room to play games and talk. Radvar enjoyed this feeling of unity that having his newly extended family together gave him. The kids had fun too but they all three fell asleep before they left to go back to their room. He felt bad waking up the boys but he carried the little girl to their room. It was amazing how resilient children could be. They’d been through so much, but they just accepted the changes without going to pieces.

He saw someone had put sleeping bags in the room for the kids and the boys and Connie all settle down to sleep. His mate had changed to a sleep shirt and he would start keeping some shorts nearby, but he saw no reason they couldn’t make love since the kids were asleep.

Once they were in bed, he turned to his mate sliding up against her. Kissing her passionately, his hands stroked her building her need. “But the kids are in the other room,” Shay whispered.

“If that was a problem, no one would ever have more than one child,” he replied.

He continued to stroke and kiss her until she relaxed against him. Moving his hands lower, he felt that she was slick and ready for him. He pulled her on top. “Ride me, Baby,” he whispered like he had seen on some Earth movies.

She giggled but rose up to move his h
ard cock to her entrance and she slowly slid all the way down. His moan was low as he tried to be as quiet as possible. Shay began to ride him moving faster and faster. Moving his hands to her hips he helped her to move at a speed that worked for both of them. Her channel was squeezing him as she rode the edge of her climax. His body was with hers just waiting for her to fall into the sea of ecstasy. A throaty moan and she bit her lip as she thrashed and her channel clenched against him. Arching up, he shot his hot seed into his mate as she continued to ride out her passion. When she collapsed on him, he held her tight against him.

Once she calmed and went to sleep, he reached for the shorts next to his bed. A parent now with kids nearby, he would keep some clothing on. Pulling her back to his chest, she sighed in contentment but never woke up. His life would be complete now, a mate, kids, and extended family. There was a lot to do, but he and his mate were strong. Sleep claimed him and tonight, he had only the best of dreams.

It had been his intention to take out the target last night but it hadn’t been done. Today, they would receive the last group of people and items. Everything would be ready for their journey home. They would have filled the lists based on what was available. They had all the people they needed to start their colony and even more than they had planned on. That was alright because life was all about making changes as things happened.

Radvar sent a group of warriors that hadn’t been off the ship since Jaded to handle the last target. Ten were sent to be on the safe side because they had extra time to breed. He had read about the human plagues and the Dramites were the beast version. They were like a curse upon the galaxy that could never be completely destroyed. Every Chieftain had tried and failed as far back as their history went.

The team came back with a mission accomplished report. All humans were onboard so once the list was checked, twice for accuracy, they would be on their way. The trip would be slightly slower as the ship was at capacity. It was his impatience that was to blame, two trips would have been the wiser choice. If he was honest, dealing with the human government was no fun. Even without Hatcher’s devious machinations, they were always trying to change the deal or make substitutions. He was sure some of those switches wouldn’t be discovered until they reached Jaded.

The Majuri traded with hundreds of species, but the humans had been the most troublesome. They had also been the most worthwhile because he was sure most if not all of his people would find mates. When it was time to go back to Earth, maybe he would let one of his five do any needed negotiations. His comm rang and the list was satisfactory. It was time to head back home. Calling Jaded home might seem unreal now, but it wouldn’t be long before it would feel right. The bridge was quiet and everyone was serious as he gave the order to head for Jaded.

Radvar found that the children gave him much joy and occasionally a headache. Connie was sweet and girly, but she was willing to learn the fighting techniques her brothers did. The boys had gotten over their fear of being sent away and were always up to something. They were learning self-defense from Shay’s father and mother along with many of the other children. They were doing it out of concern for the children, but it gave them something to do on the boring trip and that was a bonus.

Shay and her sister took up weaving which helped pass the time and it turned out they were good at it. Friendships were developing, couples were mating, and he was sure Junior and Talai would be next. Jade and Darin seemed to fight more than anything, and Collin hadn’t made any headway with Jules who seemed very skittish. At least Collin had managed to play nice and they had become friends. The trip home was uneventful, but that was no surprise. The Dramites had been dealt with and there had been no sign of other advanced races in their area.

Radvar was smart enough to know that just because they hadn’t found them, didn’t mean they were not hidden somewhere. He was willing to put off that worry until his people were settled in and had some defenses. Everyone was happy when Jaded appeared in the distance as a tiny dot. The trip had not been an easy one and he was sure everyone was looking forward to spreading out so they wouldn’t trip over each other. It would be a massive undertaking to get everyone to the surface and set up in some kind of living space.

Now that they were in orbit around Jaded, a thrum of excitement seemed to run through everyone. Anticipation ran through him because he couldn’t wait to see what progress had been made. He did not want to be disappointed if the progress was not as great as he expected. Radvar decided to send Shay with both their teams to help coordinate the unloading and decide the placement of the new citizens since he would need to leave a small crew on the ship. They would be flashed directly to the cave where they would find most of the people on Jaded.

  Epilogue

Radvar had been happy with the work completed on both sides of the cavern. Some of his people preferred the steamy hot jungle side while others preferred the cooler temperatures of the grass covered plains. Donar had made excellent progress although it had only been on the middle level that already had caverns. No work was done on the other levels because they didn’t have the excavating tools he needed to properly work on an area where there was no cavern at all. Those would be built with the parts they’d brought from Earth.

On the jungle side, a dozen tree houses had been built to serve as homes. They were camouflaged and hard to see, built with the natural materials around them and literally carved into the giant trees in the jungle. These trees were within sight of the cavern so they could join with the others in case of an emergency. Donar had designed them to use the natural heat as an energy source to supply hot water and charge batteries. He took advantage of the breezes found in the higher levels so that the homes never got too hot. With ladders and slides as exits and entrances, they were a delight for children.

The homes built on the plains were at the foot of the mountains containing the caverns. To the unknowing eye, they appeared like foothills. Plants grew on the roofs and the walls were indistinguishable from the surrounding area having also been built from the material surrounding them. The doors were the color of the dirt that had been used to make bricks to build the walls. Shay called them sod houses. The only thing that wasn’t natural was the windows which were made of a hard material that could stop bullets from human guns and divert lasers. Here Donar had also outdone himself. They had a system of fans and ventilation that allowed for cooling through air circulation. In the winter when temperatures were cooler, they would close off the vents and the insulation provided by the walls and roof would keep the temperature as steady as a cave.

The draw for the children here was the ability to watch animals that came right up to the houses not realizing they weren’t hills. The animals would be shocked when they looked in the windows to see the people looking out at them. The kids had gotten a good laugh out of startling some hulking beast that had taken off running.

Things seemed to be going well except that the mating wasn’t going as well or as quickly as expected. It was true that fifty or so couples had mated and some had even asked for a ceremony that was a blending of Majuri and human customs. Radvar had expected mass matings with a baby boom following. He had underestimated the ability of people to have disagreements and misunderstandings when love was involved. Junior and Talai were a prime example. They had been on the verge of cementing their relationship when suddenly, they would barely speak to each other and when they did, it wasn’t civil.

Something was going on there but Shay said they were adults and could work it out. While they were adult aged, their behavior was more like teenagers. For now he would leave it be, but they would die out if someone didn’t expedite some mating. He had set an example, they only needed to follow it.

Shay looked more beautiful every day and pregnancy agreed with her as long as she didn’t get emotional. When that happened nothing went right. She was disappointed that none of her family members had mated and despaired that their child would have any playmates. They had decided they would just enjo
y being together for now and hope nature took its course.

Right now there was a beautiful new world out there to explore and conquer. He had his mate at his side, a child growing in her belly, and life was pretty damn good!

Talai wasn’t angry, she was furious. It was true they’d made no commitment to each other but their relationship had been building toward something. She was sure of it until she had walked into the emergency shelter and seen that female in his arms. It was a sight difficult to forget and goddess knows she’d tried. Maybe she was just meant to be alone and help others with their children.

He was innocent and he’d been wrongly convicted in the court of unfortunate circumstances. Talai refused to talk to him much less explain what had happened. That female had taken it upon herself to offer something he didn’t want and now he was suffering for it. As much as he hated to admit it, Shay was right and he should have taken Talai the day he’d met her.

Was there any way things could ever work out between these two stubborn people? It would be a hard journey but if they would both open their hearts, anything was possible.
