“What do you mean?” I asked as my plans for the next hour started slipping through my hands.

“You remember Jim, the guy who told you where I was?”

“Sort of, yes.” I replied remembering him vaguely. I wouldn’t be able to pick him out of a line up, he hadn’t made much of an impression, but I remembered meeting him.

“He told me I had family. I think he said I had a sister. What if Delane has gone after her?”

“I hope they’ll be very happy together.” I said, hoping that was the right answer. Right now I didn’t give a shit about anything except getting into my mate. They say males don’t have a heat and while that’s technically true, they are affected by the heat their female enters. Hers had hit me hard, clearly harder right now than it was hitting her.

She screeched in frustration. Wrong answer, my brain acknowledged. At least I was thinking with the right head now.

“Just joking, Baby! Tell me what you think we should do.”

She seemed to calm down instantly and she hugged me rubbing against my now sensitive cock. “We need to get Jim and find out what he knows about my sister. Once we track her down, we’ll warn her and see what we can do next. I’m worried for her.”

I could understand what she meant even though I didn’t have any family to speak of. I saw how some families were, they were close and supported each other. Megan would have been raised in that kind of environment and when we had pups, she could teach me how to be a good father. I’d never had a real dad so I didn’t know much about one. I’d seen what the other pup’s dads had done, but there was a lot I’d not seen too. Stan was like me except his dad had been worse than no dad at all. He’d been mean, just plain mean to his wife and kids. It was before this alpha who was just a little older than Stan and I, had taken over. He didn’t tolerate any form of abuse by parent, child, or even a stranger. I knew he was a good wolf and he would have raised Megan right.

“Okay, I’ll go and tell Stan what to do to get it started and when I get back here, I want you naked and ready for anything.” I instructed her. She jumped into my arms kissing me like crazy. I pulled on my lounge pants and ran downstairs to talk to Stan.

Stan was sitting at the table as if he was waiting for me. “About time you got back down here.” He acknowledged.

“What made you think I’d be back?”

Stan shot me an incredulous look. “She wasn’t about to let go of it and you had that I need you now Baby, look.”

  “I don’t either.”

“Lie to yourself, my friend, but don’t lie to me.”

“Oh hell! I’ve got it bad!” I admitted.

“Worse case I ever saw.” Stan agreed.

“Go ahead and send someone after that Jim guy.” I instructed.

“Already done.” Stan didn’t bat an eye.

“Okay good. Call Henley and get him on tracking down Megan’s family with the information he can get out of the alpha.”

“Already done.” Stan said looking very self-satisfied.

“What am I even here for?”

“I ask myself that from time to time.” Stan said.

“Hey, watch it. You know I wouldn’t let anyone else get by with saying that.”

It was true. Stan and I had a special relationship built through years of relying on each other. We had been friends as pups and eventually I had confronted Stan’s father. The foolish wolf had thought that I would be an easy opponent because I was young. I had shown him that my age didn’t hold me back. I had gotten my size early and at age eleven I had nearly killed Stan’s father. The wolf had immediately told Stan not to come back home. It had been no loss, Stan’s mother was a beaten down scarecrow of a female happy to have the child as a buffer between her and her violent mate. He had killed her within a week of Stan leaving and the alpha at the time had been forced to banish him. We’d heard he died in a bar fight almost a year later. He’d picked on a female who could stand up for herself.

Stan and I did just fine. There was a cave we had lived in and I was an incredible hunter. We did odd jobs for some of the nicer people in the pack and time passed until we were seventeen and enlisted. We stuck together in the military too. We saved each other more times than we could count. I trusted Stan and now I trusted my mate. They were the only two people I trusted with no reservations.

“I guess I’ll get back to my mate now.” I observed.

“That’s not nice of you to rub it in. I think you’ve got a keeper there.”

“I believe you’re right.” I answered with a smile as I headed back up the stairs with my mind on nothing but the beauty that was waiting for me.

My eyes were immediately drawn to the naked and oh so sexy female stretched out on the bed in front of me.

“What took you so long, Babe?” she questioned as her hands moved to her breasts cupping and squeezing them. “I had to start without you.”

I growled as desire zoomed though my body and landed in my cock. It jerked up and down like it was nodding yes and maybe it was. I was ready and willing to show her what I could do to her marvelous body and I was revved up enough to do it right away. I rushed to her and slid into bed beside her. My lips closed around the perky nipple she had just pinched. It pebbled even more and her salty sweet taste made me want more. One hand moved to her crease finding it slick with her juices. My finger slid up and down immediately getting a moan and more out of my mate.

I sucked her nipple with enthusiasm and my finger loved the feel of her slick pussy as I slid up and down gliding over her clit then sliding lower. I sank my finger into her channel before making the return trip to her clit. Her soft mewls made my cock throb and her hands stroked my arms and my back encouraging me to continue my efforts. I could feel her muscles tightening and knew she was ready to explode. I slid down her body so my mouth was situated between her thighs. I wanted a taste and I wanted it now. My tongue moved to her clit to worry it as my finger continued to slide in and out. I added another finger which slid in easily since she was so slippery. I could smell how ripe and ready she was. I moved my fingers faster and sucked her nubbin into my mouth scraping it lightly with my teeth. I got my intended results when she thrashed against my face and screamed my name as a gush of her sweet love juice streamed over my tongue. I went after every drop aggressively and sucked the ambrosia down. I licked my lips before I slid up her body impaling her in one smooth hard thrust. Heavenly goddess that was amazing!

I froze, as deep inside her as I could go. Her body clutched at me, wrapping around my stiff shaft and it felt incredible. We were like one, as close at this moment as two people could ever be. I felt our connection on multiple levels. Physically, of course, but emotionally and spiritually as well. We were bound on a level so deep and strong that I didn’t think death would even separate us.

“I love you.” I whispered in her ear and I’d never meant anything more.

“I love you too. More than I ever thought it possible to love someone.” She said it, but she hadn’t needed to because I felt it deep to my soul. Her love was like a warm blanket wrapped around me.

I pulled out and slid back in enjoying the feel of her skin as I glided along her body. I looked in her eyes and saw the glow of her wolf and I knew my eyes glowed too. I sped up until I was drilling into her harder, faster than before. I tingled all over but I held back waiting for her to claim her pleasure first. I moved my hand between us and worried her little love button. She moaned and I felt her muscles tighten in preparation of her release. I slammed in a little harder and she gripped my cock in a death grip as the spasms of her orgasm flowed over her.

I held back as long as I could before I threw back my head and howled as my cum was literally milked out of me by her grasping muscles. She milked me until I was dry and still she tried to get more. My body bucked and jerked as pleasure rocked through me. I finally rolled over pulling my sweet mate with me and enclosing her in my embrace. Nothing had ever felt so wonderful or drained me so completel
y. I was so exhausted that sleep called me and I would answer but first I waited for my lover to succumb to it.

I guess we must have nodded off together because I woke in the middle of the night. Our schedule had been odd since mating because the heat was dictating when we went to bed and if we slept when we did. Although wolves were nocturnal creatures, werewolves were more like humans setting their schedules as needed but craving at least some daylight daily. Because of my business interests which were worldwide, my schedule was often erratic but not to this extreme.

I slipped on my lounge pants and went downstairs leaving my sleeping mate to get her rest. Stan was downstairs in the kitchen. I think the wolf ate instead of sleeping.

  “You’re still here?”

“Where else would I be when you need me?”

  “Any word?”

“We’ll have Jim here soon. He wasn’t easy to find because he was hiding from Delane.”

  “What about tracking her family?”

“We have some names, but they no longer live where they did and her grandma died a few years ago.”

“That’s no surprise, she was actually her great grandma I think. Maybe Delane will have the same problems.”

“We can hope, otherwise there’s no way of being sure that he doesn’t already have her.”

“We need to put a tracker on him.”

“Already done.” Stan said with a smile.

“Why the hell didn’t you just say so?”

“I wanted to make sure you came to that conclusion first.” He said smirking.

“Hell, I might as well just get back upstairs to my mate.”

“That’s what I’d do if I was you.”

I went back upstairs where Megan still slept undisturbed. She looked like an angel sleeping peacefully with her hair spread out over her pillow. I got into bed beside her and pulled her into my arms and went back to sleep. When we woke I was sure Jim would be there. I felt the bed move and it seemed like I had just laid back down but I could see by the way the sunlight hit the wall that it was noon or later. Megan was sitting up as if she couldn’t decide if she should rise or lay back down with me. We decided to rise and started the day off right with a sexy shower.

I followed her into the shower stall and set the water to as hot as I thought she could handle. I could handle hotter, but I didn’t want to burn her delicate skin. We both got wet all over and I soaped her down spending extra time on all those hot dirty spots that needed my attention and she did the same. By the time we were washed up, we were panting with need. I picked her up and she wrapped her legs around my waist as I thrust deep into her. She hung on, her arms in a tight grip around my neck as I plowed into her over and over.

I could feel her body tighten and she growled in my ear making my body tighten as well. Moments later she went off like a rocket and I followed her. I slammed her against the shower wall so hard I feared I’d hurt her but she screamed for more. It took a few minutes before we both calmed and were ready to clean up again. We got out and dried off before dressing. I planned to add a daily shower to our schedule. What a way to start the day.

We went down to find not only Stan but Jim had been brought in as well. I knew finding her family and especially her sister was important to her and I would do all I could to see it done.

“Nice to see you, Jim.” I stated.

Jim looked nervous but he tried to smile. It looked more like a grimace but he looked happier when he saw Megan had followed me into the room.

“Hey there!” He said more to her than anyone.

“Are you alright?” Megan asked Jim.

“I’m okay.” He said with his hands in his pockets swaying from side to side. I expected him to say aw shucks.

“We needed to know if you could find Megan’s sister. Delane is looking for her and it won’t be good for her if he gets there first. It won’t be good for Delane either once I find him.”

Jim swallowed hard and his Adam’s apple bobbed up and down. “Delane says you’re scary.” He admitted looking at me in awe. “He says he saw you beat a bear.”

Bears were the kings of the shifter world. No one messed with a bear except another bear. They were bigger than other shifters and meaner.

  “Yes, I did that once.”

“You fought a bear?” Megan asked stunned.

  “No, I beat a bear.”

“You have to tell me about it.”

  “I don’t like to brag.” I replied.

“Shit, I’ll tell you two about it since I was there. We went in one of the local bars, The Wild Life, when we were on leave from the military. It was hell around here fifteen years ago. There wasn’t much order, everyone did their own thing. That was right before your dad took over. The place was packed and every kind of were you could imagine was in there but mostly wolves, lions and bears.”

“Oh my.” Megan said with a laugh.

“Do you want to hear the story or not?” Stan asked indignantly.

“Sorry.” Megan said and he seemed placated.

“There was this lady and her kid in there, she was looking for a job and she had to bring her boy, he was ten or so. The bear was in a rage and seemed for all the world to be drunk though I don’t know how he managed it unless he’d drank moonshine first. He was tall as a mountain, even a tad taller than Reese and broader too. I guess he didn’t see the little guy because he tripped over him. Now that pissed the bear off more than a thorn in his paw. He started to take a swipe at the boy but Reese stepped up and caught it.”

“That was so brave.” Megan said as Stan shot her another annoyed look. She shut up right away.

“Now Reese wasn’t looking for trouble and he told the bear that. He said he just didn’t want the little guy getting killed accidently. So the bear, he tells him if the pup was killed, it wouldn’t be no accident. He tells Reese to step out of the way or take the hit for the pup. Reese says he’ll take a hit in a fair fight but he wasn’t going to sit still for one. The bear, well he says, ‘I’m gonna kill you man!’ and Reese laughs at him pissing him off even more. He takes a punch at Reese and Reese catches the bear’s morphed paw and pushes him to the ground with it. Damnedest thing I ever saw. Everyone in the place cheers and claps and the bear leaves embarrassed and never came back. The mama thanks Reese but he says it’s no big deal and gives her some money to help her out. He can be a real gent some times.”

“Wow, I can’t believe you did that. It was so brave. No one takes on a bear if they can avoid it.” Megan gushed.

“I had to do something. It was only right.” I explained. I never understood why it was so hard for others to understand what caused me to take action. How could I step aside and allow a child to die for no good reason? “We need to get back down to business. Jim, we need to find Megan’s sister and we need your help.”

Jim looks nervous and he licks his lips. “I’ll help you but only if you protect me from Delane.”

“Won’t your alpha protect you? You’re the historian aren’t you?” I asked.

“Alpha James doesn’t value history. He doesn’t value anyone but those he calls his warrior wolves. They are the strongest of his males and he says everyone must give them what they want so they can protect us. They take anything they see that they like and the females can’t tell them no.”

“Th-that’s awful. I see where Delane gets it from.” Megan said, her voice breaking from shock.

I thought it disgraceful to abuse females and it was abuse to take something they weren’t giving willingly.

  Chapter 7

  The Search

I was worried about a sister I didn’t know and had never met. Until recently I’d had no idea of her existence at all. I needed to talk to my parents, they had to know more than I did. I was just reluctant to go around them while I was still in heat and my dad and Reese had never been on the best of terms. There was a lot to overcome before Reese and I could have a stable solid relationship in the wolf community. I never thought I woul
d need to be accepted here as anything but the alpha’s daughter. I knew I would have to fight for my right to be at Reese’s side politically. I’d had basic self-defense training, Dad had insisted on that, but I’d never been a scrapper.

My siblings, at least my wolf siblings were all fighters. It came with the territory when your father was a leader. You had to learn to fight or learn to put up with bullies because being the alpha’s kid put a target on your back. I had avoided that to some degree because I was human. It was established early on that if you messed with me, the rules governing contact with humans would be invoked and serious consequences would be visited upon them. No one was allowed to hurt humans if Dad knew about it. His view was only the biggest cowards messed with those weaker than they were. It was lucky for me that those big cowards were scared of him and my brothers or my youth would have been miserable.

I was excited that Reese had finally opened up about himself a little. I knew his reputation, bad, but I knew few details and no history. He was the toughest and the baddest but no one ever said why. His name was spoken in hushed whispers as if they were afraid he’d hear and deal harshly with them. I had finally heard what was probably the first of the stories that told how he’d come to be so feared. Wolves avoided bears yet he’d fought one to save a child. I was impressed and it made me want to take him upstairs and worship him. It was a primitive reaction but I didn’t care.

I worked hard to get my mind back on my sister and pay attention to the conversation. I wanted to discover my blood family and my roots. I needed to know more about being a red wolf and what did that mean exactly? What could I do and how could I learn to do it? Jim could tell me a little but it was just speculation. It would be a start and I would test things out and see if his information was good or not. He had been right about me being a red wolf. He’d also been right about them possessing certain powers. That was what I needed to know more about.

I steadied myself and started paying attention to the conversation. Jim didn’t seem to know much. “Delane tried to get information out of me that I just didn’t have. Once I traced the bloodline to Megan, I stopped looking. I did note that she had a grandma and an older sister, but Megan was the center of my project. She was raised with wolves and would make the adjustment to becoming one the easiest.” Jim explained.
